Financial Support available for Care Providers

The North Central London Council is offering temporary financial support to assist care providers within the NCL region in recruiting displaced workers. This funding which is a one-off payment will help cover the costs for a maximum of two years if you’re a small or charitable company and a maximum of one year if you are classed as a medium to large company associated with:

  • Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) fees
  • Immigration Skills Charge (ISC) fees

This support is designed to ease the financial burden of international recruitment while addressing displaced workers whose employers have had their licences revoked as well as addressing workforce shortages in the care sector.

Please note this is a time-limited offer, and funding is subject to availability. We encourage eligible care providers to take advantage of this support as soon as possible.

For further details on how to apply, please contact us on NCL.HSCAcademy@camden.gov.uk

International recruitment toolkit

It’s important to hire international workers in adult social care in a fair and legal way. Care providers must also make sure these workers are supported when they arrive and start working in the UK.

The new International Recruitment Toolkit for Social Care, created by the Department of Health and Social Care and Skills for Care, gives providers the tools they need to do this well. The guide helps ensure that recruitment is:

  • Fair and legal, following all UK rules.

  • Sustainable, meeting the needs of both workers and care providers over the long term.

  • Person-focused, helping new workers settle into their jobs and communities.

This toolkit is a must-have for care providers who want to maintain high standards in recruitment while dealing with workforce shortages in adult social care.

Support

We understand that this may be a difficult time, and we are here to offer support where we can. Please read the following information carefully to understand what our service can and cannot provide:

  • We will do our best to support you, but please note that we cannot guarantee a match with a new sponsor or that you will secure a new job through this service.
  • It is your responsibility to regularise your immigration status in the UK, either by finding a new sponsor or exploring other legal options. Our aim is to support you through this process as much as possible.
  • We are not able to provide legal or immigration advice, but we encourage you to seek independent legal support. Free legal advice is available through Law Centres: List of Law Centres | LCN. You can also contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) for further assistance. Citizens advice: Free advice on employment, housing and visa issues Website: www.citizensadvice.org.uk | Helpline: 08001448848
  • Our service focuses on helping care workers find new sponsors within the care sector. If you have other needs or questions, we will signpost you to the most appropriate organisations or resources.
  • If you are looking for a role outside of care work or senior care work, we are unable to provide direct support. However, we may be able to signpost you to other opportunities, such as those available through the NCL Academy, Apprenticeship, or similar programmes.
  • We encourage you to take active steps to find a new sponsor, alongside any support we provide.
  • You are not required to accept any job offers that come through our job matching support. The choice is entirely yours.
  • This support service is voluntary, and you can stop receiving support at any time. If you no longer wish to take part, please let us know by email so we can update our records.
  • If your situation changes - for example, if you accept a job with a new sponsor, regularise your stay through another route, or decide to leave the UK - please inform us via email.
