Our Probation Services Officers play a vital role in our Offender Management team, working directly with service users ranging from low to medium risk.

MTC is a values led organisation, working to reduce reoffending in the communities in which we work. We operate two CRC contracts (including Probation Services, Community Service projects and Accredited Programme Courses) and a Secure Training Centre (youth custodial facility)

You will manage your own caseload and be responsible for the delivery of individual and group based interventions to help the people we work with reintegrate back into society. This will involve assessing the needs and risks posed by service users, planning the supervision required to make sure they are actively engaged in the process and keeping accurate records in line with national standards so we can monitor their progress. You will need some previous experience of working with people who are experiencing difficulties to be successful in this role. You’ll also need to prove that you’re emotionally intelligent, resilient and calm under pressure: the kind of person who can build rapport quickly and de-escalate potentially volatile situations. Strong report-writing skills are also a must.
