Join our free weekly health walks.

Our organised walks are relaxed, friendly and a great chance to meet new people.
At each of our walks, there are toilets and benches along the route. Many of our walks also finish at cafes for social opportunities.

Each group meets 10 minutes before the walk starts and leaves promptly. Walks typically last 30-90 minutes. No specialist equipment needed, just wear clothes and shoes comfortable for walking.

Organised walks in Camden

Hampstead Heath Leisurely Group

  • Every Monday (except bank holidays) at 9:50am
  • Meeting point: Parliament Hill cafe

Bookings are no longer required, simply turn up to the meeting place.

This walk is suitable for people living with health conditions or mobility issues. Mobility aids welcome. Suitable for slower walkers. There is a sister walk (Hampstead Heath challenging walk) that goes from Hampstead Heath overground station at the same time. We recommend new walkers try this leisurely walk first and if they find it too easy, they can then try out the Hampstead Heath challenging walk.

For further information please visit Hampstead Heath Walks webpage

Hampstead Heath Challenging Group

  • Every Monday (except bank holidays) at 9:50am
  • Meeting point: Hampstead Heath Overground station
  • Bookings are no longer required, simply turn up to the meeting place.

This walk goes across the Heath following a different route each week, often diverging from the main paths, so be prepared for uneven ground and walking uphill. After about an hour, the group stops for refreshments at Kenwood or Parliament Hill Café, occasionally venturing further afield to Golders Hill Park.

Participants can either make their own way home or join the walk leaders to return by a shorter route to the starting point opposite Hampstead Heath Overground station. Please wear shoes comfortable for walking in and bear in mind that the Heath can be muddy. You don’t need anything special but avoid open-toed shoes and smooth soles.

For further information please visit Hampstead Heath Walks webpage

Likewise Walk

This walk will not be running between December and March 2024. It will start again in March, please feel free to contact us on the details below for more information.

If you’re looking to gently increase your physical activity and meet new people, our weekly excursions around the local area might be just the ticket. Walks start at the Likewise Hub and take in different local spots each week – we’re lucky to have some great green space nearby, and often stop for a coffee and a chat along the way.

We want our walks to be open to as many people as possible. A Likewise team member will be present in the group if you have any questions along the way, but if there’s anything else we can do to support you to attend please let us know.

Informal walks in Camden

Belsize walk guide

From Primrose Hill to Parliament Hill, a two- and half-hour leisure walk through Camden, seeing architectural and historical buildings and places of interest along the way. This walk is not led by a walk leader but can be completed by everyone, and includes places to sit and stop.

To start the walk and for more information on locations and maps please view Belsize Walk Guide (PDF) and Belsize Walk Poster (PDF).

Walking tube map

Walking can be a quick and easy alternative to the tube when getting around London and of course it is free and comes with all the mental and physical health benefits that physical activity can provide. The TFL’s walking tube map shows how long it takes to walk between stations on the same line, this is especially useful during the busiest times which are between 05:45-08:15 and 16:00-17:30 Monday to Friday.

Footways

Footways is a network of quiet and enjoyable routes for walking in London. To view their maps and more information visit the Footways webpage.

Camden's parks and green spaces

Camden has many parks and green spaces that are ideal for walking around or to use as walk destinations or rest points. The locations of Camden’s Parks and Green spaces can be seen on the Parks in Camden webpages

Canal and Rivers Trust

The Canal and River Trust has over 2,000 miles of level towpaths along some of the best waterside scenery England and Wales have to offer. Take a walk today and feel better by water.

The Trust works hard to ensure its towpaths are open and accessible so you can enjoy a waterside ramble whatever the time of year. Aside from lock flights, your path is level and there's little chance of getting lost.

The unfolding scenery of a canal-side stroll also takes some beating. Where else could you find such a mix of wildlife, architecture, countryside and of course, the thing that brings it all to life, narrowboats?

If you're looking for great canal or river walks, the Trust's routes map will point you in the right direction. Alternatively, just head for your local towpath and follow your nose.
