Carers Assessment Officer

Here at Barnet Carers, we are looking for a part-time Carers Assessment Officer to join our friendly and dynamic Carers Services Team. If you’re an aspiring Social Worker, have a background in social care or are passionate about supporting the needs of ‘unpaid’ Carers, then this could be the role for you.

Barnet Carers has a long history of supporting unpaid carers living and/or caring for someone living in the London Borough of Barnet. We are a charitable organisation delivering reliable and accessible support for ‘unpaid’ carers and young carers in Barnet. Our mission is to ‘enable all carers to thrive’ by empowering people to live the life they want, whilst carrying out a caring role.

Your Role

Role Responsibility: • Completing statutory Carers Needs Assessments, registrations, support plans, reviews and emergency planning in compliance with the Care Act. Assessments will be completed remotely online, over the phone and via video call through set appointment slots • Implementing a support package to unpaid Carers through referrals, signposting and setting up access to internal and external services • Engaging in casework meetings internally and with external agencies to discuss ‘high-need’ cases • Consistent data inputting • Complying with our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within our Performance Framework • Providing information and advice relating to carer-specific matters • Regularly communicating with referrers, agencies and carers Working hours: 21 hours a week

About You

What are we looking for? • Experience working with or within the voluntary sector, education and/or health and social care services • Understanding of carers’ needs, challenges and issues, including those from ethnic and diverse communities • Excellent oral and written English communications skills • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths • Excellent organisational skills • Experience using Microsoft Office packages (including Word and Excel) • Experience using a database • Ability to self-manage tasks and compliance with expected targets • Ability to work effectively within a team • A motivational attitude to empower carers, and encourage enablement
