Moving more can improve our physical health, and it’s an opportunity to be sociable, helping to reduce loneliness and maintain our independence into later life. Here are some ways you can move more in the borough.
Wellbeing Walks in Camden
Free walks led by qualified Ramblers Walking for Health Leaders. Walks are taken at a gentle pace and typically last 30- 90 minutes, often finishing with a hot drink and chance to socialise with other walkers. Find more information about Wellbeing Walks.
Outdoor gyms
Camden has 12 outdoor gyms across Camden that are free to use with a variety of cardiovascular, resistance & stretching equipment. There’s also GoodGym Camden, which is a community group that helps older people and community projects with physical tasks and activities. Camden Green Gym helps with fun practical nature conservation tasks in 4 groups across Camden.
Park Run
Park Runs take place across the country every Saturday. Everyone is welcome - whether you’d like to walk, jog run or even volunteer - and they have a great community feel. Camden’s local Park Run is in Hampstead Heath, and you can information about events in neighbouring boroughs and across the country on their website.
Park Walk
Work your way up to walking 5k with the Park Walk 8-week programme, ran by the Park Run organisation.
Camden community gardening and volunteering
Camden’s Parks for Health programme has a range of activities that support health in our local parks and green spaces, such as Green Social Proscribing.
Camden leisure centres
There are 6 leisure centres across the borough, offering swimming, gym facilities, classes and more. There are a variety of membership options available, including pay & play, disability and concessionary. Find more information on the Better Leisure website.
The Armoury (part of Jubilee Hall Trust)
This gym facility based in Hampstead offers fitness classes, gym memberships, a sauna and GP referral programmes. Find more information on the Armoury Gym website.
