Free blood pressure checks

High blood pressure may go unnoticed as there are usually no symptoms. Hence, it is necessary that you have regular blood pressure checks. If your blood pressure remains high for a longer period, it can lead to serious problems such as heart attacks or strokes.

If you are aged 40 or over, you can get your blood pressure checked at a pharmacy without seeing a GP.

You can also get your blood pressure checked at the Camden Mobile Health Bus.

What happens when you get your blood pressure checked

A member of the pharmacy team, will wrap a blood pressure cuff around your upper arm to measure your blood pressure. They will then share the result with you.

Depending on the result, they might give you advice to support healthy living, give you a blood pressure monitor to take home with you and return later, or advise you to see a GP. If you're registered with a GP surgery, your blood pressure reading will be added to your GP health record. It will not be shared with anyone unless your blood pressure is very high or very low and you need urgent medical help.

If you're aged 40 to 74 and don’t have a pre-existing health condition, you may also be eligible for a free NHS Health Check — visit the NHS Health Checks page to find out more.
